Recently, Brose Group, one of the world's top 100 automotive suppliers, officially opened its new intelligent cockpit and door panel system project for new energy vehicles in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. As Brose's third factory in Taicang, the project represents a total investment of US$60 million. Upon reaching full production capacity, it will boost Brose's annual sales in Taicang to over 12 billion yuan, further solidifying Taicang's strategic position as a core manufacturing base for German companies in the Asia-Pacific region.

Brose Group, headquartered in Coburg, Germany, is the fourth largest family-owned business among the world's top 40 automotive suppliers, holding a leading global position in automotive closure systems and drive systems. The newly opened project, with a building area of 27,000 square meters, focuses on the research, development, production, and processing of intelligent cockpits and door panel modules for new energy vehicles. It has an annual production capacity of 300,000 sets of related components, precisely aligning with the intelligent and connected development trends of China's new energy vehicle industry.

A Brose Group representative stated that since first establishing a presence in Taicang in 2014, the company has successively established two production bases in the Taicang High-tech Zone, and the Taicang factory has become the group's largest manufacturing base in the Asia-Pacific region. This increased investment reflects Brose's confidence in Taicang's complete automotive parts industry ecosystem, efficient government services, and its advantageous location near Shanghai and the coast. "Within a 30-kilometer radius of Taicang, 90% of our suppliers are covered, and 70% of automotive parts can be sourced locally. This industrial clustering effect significantly reduces collaboration costs," the representative emphasized. The new factory will integrate Brose's globally leading technologies with local innovation resources to further enhance localized R&D and production capabilities.

During the project's development, Taicang continuously refined its "5E·Taicang Comfort" business service brand, providing comprehensive professional services through a "German Enterprise Service Window," coordinating and resolving key issues such as project approval and supply chain integration, ensuring the smooth launch and operation of the project. Relevant Taicang city leaders stated that the opening of the Brose project is another important achievement in Taicang's cooperation with Germany, further improving the local new energy vehicle parts industry chain and promoting the industry's advancement to the high-end of the global value chain.

With over 30 years of experience in cooperation with Germany, Taicang has attracted over 560 German-funded enterprises, including more than 60 "hidden champion" companies, with a total investment exceeding US$6 billion, forming the highest density cluster of German-funded enterprises in China. Focusing on core areas such as automotive parts and high-end equipment manufacturing, Taicang has built a "30-kilometer supplier coverage network," with over 800 local enterprises forming close collaborations with German companies.  The industrial ecosystem advantage of being able to "assemble a complete new energy vehicle electric drive system with just one bus ride" is becoming increasingly prominent.

The opening of the new Brose project is not only a microcosm of German companies' continued deep commitment to Taicang, but also confirms the upgrading trend of Taicang's cooperation with Germany from a "manufacturing workshop" to an "intelligent manufacturing base." To date, Taicang has cultivated 1,330 high-tech enterprises and 288 specialized and innovative enterprises at the provincial level and above.  Through the "dual-system" vocational education program, it has cumulatively trained over 10,000 professional and technical talents, providing strong talent support and innovative momentum for the development of German companies.

It is reported that since 2025, Taicang has facilitated the landing of 15 German-funded projects, including Webo fastening equipment, Barmann automation, and DRD coal mining equipment electro-hydraulic control systems, continuously expanding its high-end equipment manufacturing and new energy industry clusters. With more and more German companies "increasing their investment" in Taicang, this "home of German companies in China" is accelerating the formation of a new pattern of Sino-German cooperation characterized by industrial co-prosperity and cultural exchange.
